American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) This national, nonprofit, voluntary, professional association of more than 9,000 higher education admissions and registration professionals represents approximately 2,300 institutions in more than 35 countries. The mission of AACRAO is to provide professional development, guidelines, and voluntary standards to be used by higher education officials regarding the best practices in records management, admissions, enrollment management, administrative information technology, and student services. It also provides a forum for discussion regarding policy initiation and development, interpretation, and implementation at the institutional level and in the global educational community. Association of Chief Business Officials (ACBO) The Association of Chief Business Officials offers business officers opportunities to develop professionally, to identify issues affecting community colleges, and to share their expertise with colleagues. ACBO membership includes 107 California community colleges, enrolling over 1.5 million students.
California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office (CCCCO) The Chancellor’s Office is the administrative branch of the California Community College system. Located in Sacramento, this state agency provides leadership and technical assistance to the 109 community colleges and 72 community college districts in California. It is also responsible for allocating state funding to the colleges and districts. The Chancellor's Office operates under the guidance of the Board of Governors, which sets policy and provides long-range planning and guidance to the Chancellor and his staff. The Office includes seven major divisions conducting the business of the system: College Finance and Fiscal Policy Planning; Legal Affairs and Contracts; Educational Services and Economic Development; Policy, Planning and External Affairs; Student Services; Human Resources; and Internal Affairs.
California Community Colleges Chief Instructional Officers (CCCCIO) The CCCCIO provides a central voice for academic matters in the State of California. It promotes and advances teaching and learning in California public community colleges while providing an instructional administrative perspective on California community college issues.
Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) CHEA is a private, non-profit, national organization that coordinates accreditation activity in the United States. It serves as a national voice for voluntary accreditation and quality assurance to the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, and to the general public, opinion leaders, students, and families.
Community College Leadership Development Initiatives (CCLDI) http://www.sandiego.edu/ccldi/ The CCLDI is committed to forming dynamic and productive alliances and working collaboratively with all constituencies of community college education in the western region. The CCLDI encourages and promotes leadership development activities for current and future leaders, research dissemination and coordination, and opportunities to share information and access professional development in community college education.
Community College League of California (CCLC) The Community College League of California is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation whose voluntary membership consists of the 72 local community college districts in California. Within the League are two major organizations which share a common mission, staff and fiscal resources: the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) and the Chief Executive Officers of the California Community Colleges (CEOCCC). In addition, two other organizations are affiliated with the League: the Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA); and the California Community College Classified Senate (CCCCS). The League serves community college districts, locally elected governing boards, and chief executive officers in six areas: education programs, research and policy analysis, fiscal services programs, governmental relations, communications, and governance of athletics.
Community College Week Since 1988, Community College Week has been the independent source of in-depth information for and about two-year college faculty, administrators and trustees. Published biweekly, Community College Week's readers include college presidents, chief academic officers, faculty, student-service professionals, librarians and other educators. In each edition, readers find news and features not provided by other news sources, including analyses of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics, technology updates, and employment opportunities.
National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) http://www.nisod.org/index.html More than 700 community colleges around the world are members of NISOD. NISOD is the outreach vehicle and service to the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP), at the University of Texas at Austin. As such, it provides weekly staff development opportunities through its publication, Innovation Abstracts, timely teaching tips, and leadership strategies written by practitioners in the field. Through its annual International Conference on Teaching and Leadership, held each May in Austin, Texas, NISOD provides provide more than 300 seminars, general sessions, round tables, receptions, networking opportunities, Expo Plaza, special events, and the opportunity to recognize NISOD Excellence Awards Recipients throughout the 3 1/2 day conference.
The Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges (RP Group) The RP Group is the organization representing California community college research and planning professionals. It provides leadership in research, analysis, and planning issues for California community colleges. The RP Group provides liaison with other professional groups such as the Chancellor’s Office, Community College League of California, California Postsecondary Education Commission, the Academic Senate, Board of Governors, Chief Executive Officers, CA Association for Institutional Research and several national research-related agencies and organizations, for the purpose of influencing and participating in policy level decisions that relate to research and planning.
The Chronicle of Higher Education The Chronicle of Higher Education is a major source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators. Online, The Chronicle is published every weekday and is a destination for news, advice, and jobs for people in academe. The Chronicle's web site features the complete contents of the latest issue, daily news and advice columns, thousands of current job listings, articles published since September 1989, discussion forums, and career-building tools.
American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) The American Association of Community Colleges is the primary advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The Association represents more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students. Formed in 1920, AACC is a national voice for community colleges, which marked their 100th year of service to the nation in 2001. AACC is leading the celebration of the colleges as they provide learning opportunities to their students and communities and the nation. The University of Hawai'i System The University of Hawai‘i System consists of 10 campuses (including seven community colleges) and dozens of educational, training, and research centers across the Hawaiian Islands. The University of Hawai'i System is the public system of higher education in Hawai‘i.
American Council of Education ACE, the major coordinating body for all the nation's higher education institutions, seeks to provide leadership and a unifying voice on key higher education issues and to influence public policy through advocacy, research, and program initiatives.
