Conferences and Events

This page provides a description of the workshops offered by ACCJC; a list of the workshop dates and locations; and information, with links, on other professional conferences and events in the region that are sponsored or co-sponsored by the Commission.

The following conferences represent just a few of the professional conferences that may be of interest to the field. This list is reviewed and updated periodically.

Academic Resource Conference 2011 April 6-8, 2011 - Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, California.

The Academic Resource Conference (ARC) is co-sponsored by the ACCJC and the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  The 2011 conference theme is Higher Education’s Third Horizon. The Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) of WASC and the ACCJC offer Retreats on the Assessment of Student Learning Levels I and II that support both 2-year and 4-year colleges in their efforts to become more learning-centered.  In the past, over 400 individuals from 75 institutions found these retreats highly effective in developing the expertise in assessment of student learning, both within programs and across the campus.

Three ACCJC workshops are offered each year at the Community College League of California Convention.  One workshop is specifically for new and experienced Accreditation Liaison Officers (ALOs), one is directed at executive leadership from member institutions, and another is for those involved in program review and institutional planning efforts.

With the Research and Planning Group (RP Group) ACCJC also co-sponsors a Strengthening Student Success Conference each year where institutions problem-solve issues of the student learning and assessment cycle, share successful student success efforts, and provide information about key issues that shape student learning, assessment, and student success.

Each retreat will be led by nationally acclaimed facilitators Mary Allen and Amy Driscoll. Retreats will run from a Thursday afternoon through Saturday noon, at $500/person or $475/ team member.
